Bough Digital’s Blogs of the Week: Week Ending July 5th

Once again it is time for the team here at Bough Digital to pick their favourite pieces of content from across the digital marketing industry that they’ve read over the last seven days.

Senior SEO Account Manager Saleem Rawn is kicking us off this week.

Content Creators Ranking Checklist
Saleem has chosen a Search Engine Watch article this week, which looks at the ways using Google Authorship can have a huge influence on the success of a piece of content, while also providing tips for making your own author profile as influential and as powerful as possible.

Saleem’s View
“A great article that emphasises the increasing importance of Google Authorship for businesses and websites’ content creators. With the SEO industry shifting towards high-quality content tailored to users rather than manipulated content for search-engine performance, the use of Google Authorship will likely be increasing as businesses will look to build author reputations within their industry-niches as a means of scoring higher within the search engine results.”

Holistic SEO vs Old SEO
Managing Director Robert Reeve has chosen an infographic posted on the Business2Community website as his favourite piece of content from the past week. The infographic highlights the reality of modern, holistic SEO against the old school ways of working that were largely all about trying to manipulate search engines.

Robert’s View
“This week I’ve gone for a graphical representation that explains the evolving world of SEO. This specific infographic looks at how SEO has developed from a traditional and singular form of marketing to an important holistic marketing technique for all online businesses. The overarching theme for the infographic is ‘quality’ over ‘quantity,’ whether that is related to user engagement, link building, keyword targeting, and of course content.”

Google Reveals 4 Things You Need to Know About Quality Score
Digital Marketing Assistant Joaquin Gomez has chosen a Larry Kim authored article from Search Engine Watch, which looks at Google’s attempt to explain quality score.

Joaquin’s View
“As we work in search engine marketing, high quality scores from search engines are pretty important for us and for our clients. As we all know, Google is the big boss among all the search engines, so all the reports and guides which come from Google are very useful. Here we have a short list of facts that Google take into account when they are scoring a website. Take a look at this article and make your own conclusions.”

The 10 Best Ways to Generate Traffic Without Google
My favourite piece of content from the past week also comes from Search Engine Watch, and offers 10 great tips to anyone looking to generate traffic without Google.

My View
“These types of articles keep popping up and I always enjoy reading them; although it is slightly worrying that there must still be so many people over reliant on organic search from Google for traffic. The way search is going there is no way this is a sustainable strategy, and businesses and website owners that aren’t looking to diversify their traffic as much as possible are likely to hit trouble sooner or later.”

That brings to an end this week’s picks of the best content from across the digital marketing industry. Get in touch with us using the comment form below, through our social media accounts, or using our contact us page to share your favourite pieces of content from the last seven days.

See you next week!
