Welcome to the latest “Blogs of the Week” fixture here on the Bough Digital website. The team have just about recovered from the early failure (or apparent success) of their 2014 World Cup predictions and what they’d like to see to the stage where they’re able to bring you their favourite features from the world of digital in the last seven days.
It’s my turn to kick off this week.
Feeding the Hummingbird
My favourite read this week has been a Moz blog by Cyrus Shepard, who has written about the different ways digital marketers as well as small business site owners can “feed the Hummingbird.”
“Since the launch of the Google Hummingbird algorithm upgrade, there has been very little from authoritative figures within the industry surrounding it, with many believing there were no key indicators to focus on in order to optimise their site. It is entirely understandable that it has taken nearly a year of obviously monitoring and testing different tools and techniques for such a post to be written, and as usual Cyrus has written an informative, highly actionable piece of content.”
2014 SEO Trends You Need to Know
Managing Director Robert Reeve has gone for a blog from the Huffington Post this week, which highlights five of the most important search engine optimisation trends digital marketers and DIY SEO merchants need to be aware of throughout the rest of 2014, and likely beyond.
“I’ve gone for the mighty Hiuffington Post this week, and I think that these five succinct posts highlight some important aspects of SEO in 2014. I think the challenge as always is communicating these elements to clients, especially those who are looking for the ultimate quick win. These five points all incorporate the latest Google Algorithms of Panda, Penguin, and Hummingbird; and as Google is fast becoming the Internet Law in regards to SEO, it’s time to be proactive in the signals that are changing the search landscape.”
How to Optimise Your Call to Action
This week’s final article comes from Senior SEO Account Manager Saleem Rawn, who has chosen a Search Engine Journal piece that is focussed on an area that matters to all of us: optimising a call to action for maximum effectiveness.
“A great article that provides helpful tips on optimisation for call-to-action (CTA) buttons to improve conversions or specific actions on your website. Optimisation of CTA is an important process that can affect how your website converts and factors such as colour, phrase, button size, shape, language, and others, all play an important psychological role in persuading the visitor to perform the action that you want.”
That concludes this week’s run down of the best blogs and articles as chosen by the team here at Bough Digital; what have been your favourite reads from the last week? Tell us in the comment section below, drop us a line through our social channels, or get in touch using our contact form.
