The team here at Bough Digital have once more been checking out the hottest articles from across the digital marketing industry over the last seven days. What has each member of our team chosen as their blog of the week?
SEO Account Manager Jack Withey gets us started this week. Jack has chosen an article from the Search Engine Watch site that looks at five examples of ‘spam link building tactics’ done right. Note that the article isn’t telling you how to spam search engines to try and manipulate them, but how you can use tactics intelligently within your link building activities to ensure they’re not seen as spam.
“Link building tactics such as obtaining business directory links have a bit of a bad reputation as many SEO professionals automated their process of getting these links, which in many cases ended up leading to Google penalties. This article gives a good overview of getting the best out of these techniques in order get high value links and a great variety of links in your link portfolio.”
SEO Account Manager Saleem Rawn has also chosen an article from Search Engine Watch, this one looking at the importance of SEO from the perspective of a small business owner. Such individuals often find themselves having little time or money to invest into SEO or other forms of digital marketing, but finding the resources to do so can make a big difference to their business potential and outlook.
“A great article on how involvement from small businesses in their SEO campaign is vital for improvements in their website performance. With the continuous algorithm updates that occur within Google, small businesses need to adapt at a quicker pace than before to ensure their search-engine activities are benefitting them.”
Head of Content Karl Tippins has chosen a blog entry from Search Engine People that looks at the importance of seeing SEO as part of an integrated marketing strategy, inclusive of offline traditional marketing practices as well as digital marketing platforms.
“It is impossible to understate the importance of seeing SEO as piece of the integrated marketing puzzle. Thankfully, the way Google and SEO is moving forward, is it quickly becoming impossible to be invested in an SEO campaign without looking at the bigger picture of social media, content marketing, and how offline activities can influence SEO. A Moz blog looking at PR tips offers further information that will be useful for integrated marketing strategists.”
