This describes the speed at which links are built pointing to your website. Link velocity is important, as it can betray any over the top link building you might be indulging in, which in turn can cause serious damage to your website.
There is no set level for link velocity, but you should take a pragmatic and common sense approach, would a new website that isn’t yet ranked and has very little traffic really be building 100 links each month? If you build links too quickly, you’re likely to get Google’s attention and have your site and links investigated.
If you’re gaining natural links, then link velocity isn’t important, as Google will be able to look at these links and ascertain how they’re being built. Keep it in mind, however, if you’re undertaking any kind of manual link building.
