What’s the Difference Between Paid and Organic Search Listings?

A paid listing is an advert. These will be displayed in the search results as ‘Ads related to (your search term).’Website owners pay for their sites to be advertised at the top of the search rankings, or beside them, when a specific term is searched for.

Organic listings are not paid for, and represent the websites that Google or another search engine deems to be the highest quality and most relevant to your search term. Both organic and paid listings can be useful for finding what you’re looking for, however sometimes you’ll find paid search results not linked directly to your keyword, this is because of companies targeting irrelevant keywords within a PPC campaign to try to gain additional traffic.
