The Google Dance is an old term used to describe how search rankings would fluctuate in Google’s early days. Google would rebuild their rankings on a periodic basis, leading to often huge differences in search rankings over time.
Google started updating its index weekly from 2003, which stopped the Google Dance from happening, although many people have experienced something similar when Google Panda and Google Penguin updates have hit their sites.
